Scholarships

The St. Lucie County Education Foundation promotes partnerships among parents, businesses, schools and community members. Each of these groups is recruited to donate time, talent and resources to support public school students and teachers. Together, we can build a strong foundation for education in St. Lucie County.

The Scholarship Guide is provided by the Foundation to public high school seniors. This publication lists all scholarships available through the Foundation and serves as a vital tool in helping students prepare for college. The Scholarship Application is a standard application that the St. Lucie County Education Foundation has developed and offers to our civic organizations for their use. You will note that some local groups chose to utilize this application. Others prefer to continue with their own.

Scholarship in Your Name can enable a student to realize his/her dream of a college education. Individuals or organizations may select the criteria for awarding their scholarships and even participate in the selection process. The Foundation publishes the scholarships, develops the selection process, reviews applications, and tracks students who receive the scholarships.

Scholarships through the Foundation provide an opportunity to help students continue to succeed after graduation.

Education Foundation awards 23 scholarships

The St. Lucie County Education Foundation awarded $45,000 in scholarships to twenty-three public high school seniors on May 6th. Marta Casas-Celaya, Comcast Director of Government and Community Affairs, arranged sponsorship for the awards ceremony.

Recipients and their families, donors, school board members and the deputy superintendent, principals, and counselors celebrated these remarkable young people many of whom have overcome and continue to grapple with major difficulties.

Local businesses and individuals presented scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500 for outstanding students who demonstrated financial need. The donors introduced the students by telling some of their accomplishments. Most of the recipients plan to continue their studies in Florida and hope to work in St. Lucie County as teachers, biomedical researchers, medical workers, engineers or computer technologists
