"The goal of the Food Service Program is to provide the students of St. Lucie County with nutritious, high-quality food choices to enhance their ability to learn." Deborah R. Wuest
Director of Food and Nutrition Services

St. Lucie County School Meals are.....

  • Nutritious...
The National School Lunch & Breakfast Programs were established to safeguard the health and well-being of our nation's children by offering nutritious meals at school that are a part of the child's total educational experience.
  • Affordable...
School meals allow a student to obtain a balanced meal at a reasonable cost. Children from families whose income is at or below the Income Eligibility guidelines may be eligible for free or reduced price lunch and breakfast by completing an application at their child's school center.
  • Well Balanced Meals...
When a school district agrees to participate in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program, it must, by law follow the established meal pattern. The meal patterns are designed to meet one-third of the (RDA) Recommended Dietary Allowances for children.

The meals offered in the St. Lucie County School Food and Nutrition Services Program are designed to follow the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The Dietary Guidelines describe a healthy diet as one that:
  • Emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products.
  • Includes lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs and nuts.
  • Is low in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt (sodium) and added sugars.
