Welcome to the 2008-2009 School Year!
This year brings us all an exciting opportunity for on-site,
job-embedded professional development in the form of
PLCs - Professional Learning Communities.
As PLCs, groups of colleagues work together to collaboratively
impact student achievement through a learn-implement and reflect
cycle. You may choose to learn about instructional
strategies, technology, content, etc. from various resources,
then implement new ideas with your students, and reflect on the
outcomes. PLCs are driven by the data and place
decision-making in the hands of you, the instructional leaders.
You are in charge of what you learn, where you learn, and how
you learn while staying committed to the goal of improving
instruction and impacting student achievement. PLCs are a
wonderful way to develop a culture of collegiality within a
school as colleagues support one another while learning - all
the while sharing collective responsibility and mutual
accountability for student achievement. As you begin the
process of establishing and learning within PLCs, please contact
our department for clarifications and celebrations!
